Ideally you want to trellis them and encourage the luffa to grow straight. Also, once they begin to flower you may have to cut back to encourage female flowers. If you have a high tunnel or greenhouse that is ideal because it will allow for a longer growing season. You harvest once luffa turn brown and dry on the vine.
