Dautobi Acres produces grass-fed lamb and sells them as whole lambs. We drop off your lamb at the processor, where you will pick up your meat order. Our lambs are born and raised on our farm. Our hair sheep harmonize beautifully with the small critters and birds that inhabit the remnant Blackland Prairie. From carbon sequestration to watershed preservation, we strive to keep this patch of Earth, temporarily bestowed to us, as natural as possible. We use low-stress management and gentle handling methods. Our flock grazes on pastures free of pesticides and herbicides. Our production methods DO NOT include antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, herbicides, or feedlots. I have raised and sold grass-fed lamb since 1996. After my kids were born, my priority for clean, trustworthy food was at its peak. As a stay-at-farm/home mom, I began to produce and sell extra lamb for added income. I have continued to raise lamb for my family and others on one of the area’s only female-owned farms. I do most of the farm work and animal husbandry, with help from friends when needed; I work a full-time job as well. I raise fewer lambs now that I'm getting old, but still need MY personal lamb supply, and have a few extra lambs to sell each year. The 2024 price per lamb (not including processing) is $275.00. Processing is an added $125 to $170, depending on the processor. Typically, a deposit of $50.00 will hold a lamb until it is ready for processing, with the balance ($225) of the lamb fee due a week before we haul the lambs to the processor, usually in May/June. You pay the processing fee to the processor about a week later when you pick up your meat. We are located about an hour northeast of Dallas in Hunt County (near Greenville, close to Celeste, Leonard, and Wolfe City). Email or text for availability, more information, and our current processor (we have used Rail 19 Quality Meat Company and Bluebonnet Meat Company). "Dautobi" is from the Kiowa language. It translates to "one who whistles while walking."
