Our farm has been in the Bernt Family for over 150 years when Frantz Bernt received the land through the Homestead Act in the 1860s. We are now raising the 6th generation on this farm. My wife and I raised 12 kids here, most of which have returned home or are near by to help work the farm & continue on our dream of getting healthy foods to families who need them. Our name comes from the small Clear Creek that joins the Cedar River in marriage in the middle of our farm. We have always farmed with an organic mindset but decided to make the final switch in the early 2000s when small family farms were being pushed out & turned to selling directly to our customers. As we saw the price of groceries increase & the health of family/friends decrease it became even more important to us to be sure we were producing nutrient dense products at affordable costs for families. Getting back to the roots of our grandparents. We use sustainable & regenerative practices, this assures there is little waste. We use by products from our meat locker as fertilizer & to add nutrition to our soil, raw milk is used as pest control on our produce, we use homeopathy for treatment of our livestock, we also use cover crops & crop rotation. We believe instilling these practices into our farm has helped us achieve our mission.
